Private John Robert Cowans

John Robert Cowans was born on the 24 November 1897 in Netherwitton.

Son of John and Eliza Cowans (MMN also Cowans, 2nd Cousins)

He attended Netherwitton school in 1903, he joined Woodbridge school in suffolk with his sister Jane Hunter Cowans in 1911 and stayed until Easter time of 1914.

He enlisted in Ipswich,  date of joining was 13th February 1917 and overseas 22nd July 1917, his address was Moat Hall, Hadleigh, Suffolk.

On the 3rd August 1918 a bomb was dropped on the lorry park,He died of his wounds on 10th September 1918 of his wounds whilst serving as a driver in the Honourable Artillery Company.

John Robert was buried at Department du Pas-de Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
