​Anthony was born in 1892 Dissington, Dalton, Northumberland.

By 1901 Anthony is showing living at his grandmothers Margaret Sproat (nee Storey) a widower along with her two daughters Mary Ann and Margaret and brother in law John Sproat in Netherwitton along with his siblings Margaret and William Dunn.

By 1911 they have all moved to 11 Tenter Terrace Morpeth, Anthony a Market Gardener.
