Remembering Colin Arthur Anderson. We aim to honour his memory and provide a glimpse into his life.

 

Dr. Colin Arthur Anderson was born on 17 May 1902 at Netherwitton, Northumberland, England.

Son of James Anderson and Janet McGregor. He has five siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

 

By 1911 the family have moved to Wittonville, Ashington Northumberland.

By 1921 Colin, his mother a widow, 2 sisters and brother had moved again to 6 High Market, Ashington where he has started as a Apprentice Mechanical Engineer at the Ashington coal company in the Colliery Engineering Shops.

 

Colin has registered as a Medical Practitioner, with qualifications of  Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

completed in 1938 University of Durham.

 

By 1939 Colin is listed as a patient at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

 

Military:

Colin started his Military career as a a Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force on the 28 November 1930 aged 28.

Marriage:

Dr. Colin Arthur Anderson, of Canning Street, Newcastle, whose wife left him three weeks after their marriage, was granted a decree for her adultery with a man named Watts.

His case that they lived together for a while at Ellington Vicarage, a Northumberland, the home of her parents. She was a domestic science teacher, and she had a baby. to Watts. Edward Hall Lee, of Gladstone Street, Blyth, in whose case the Judge invoked the Russell v. Russell rule, was granted a decree for adultery of his wife with an unknown man.

 

He arrived in New York on the 5th December 1954
