Bombardier John Hope

John Hope was born in Warkworth in 1893.

Son of Thomasin Hope, of Birling, North Field, Warkworth, Northumberland, and the late Robert Hope.

 

Occupation:

A Groom.

 

Military:

He joined up December 14th 1914 and served in France in January 1917.

He then transferred to the Royal Field Artillery.

"B" Battery 211th Brigade


Death:

28th March 28th 1918 at No 6 Stationary Hospital from wounds received the previous day at Bethune.

Buried:

Frevert St Hilare Cemetery, Daullens. He was killed in the German offensive in The First Battle of the Somme 1918, The First Battle of Arras.
